Murder in Wizard's Wood (Bittergate #1)

I finished reading the first book in the Bitergate series by Michael J Allen. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's books. This is the story of Jedediah shine, who is a peanut farmer, who is protecting the wild Fey. If you like, Feys, wizards, and centaurs, then this book is for you. Here is what Good Reads says about the book, "For centuries, Southern peanut farmer Jedediah Shine has protected secret preserves of Wild Fey from humanity. He’s shielded modern humanity from bloodthirsty Fey. Unknown factions from both are dropping fresh corpses on his lawn, leaving Jedediah holding the body bags. A vengeful mercenary company resurrect an ancient blood feud. Forewarned against direct action, the Namhaid orchestrate a subtle plot pitting the wizard against law enforcement agencies. Rebellious young centaurs challenge borders guarded by the wizard to keep them hidden. They unleash a genocidal war on humanity and the Guardians keeping them caged. Unwitting pawns of a deeper menace, both serve a greater plot to rob Jedediah of magic’s deepest secret. Woods filled with murder victims vie for Jedediah’s attention against a jealous elven ex-lover and Jedediah’s new, seemingly reincarnated girlfriend. Two out-of-control teenage sorceresses and a Cherry Coke addicted dragonling further complicate Jedediah’s attempts to root out the mysterious murderers. A Federal manhunt leaves Jedediah’s charges unprotected. Centaurs attack his foster daughter. A rogue Namhaid agent takes the fight to Jedediah, intent to carve a reputation from the wizard’s corpse. His assault nearly kills the young dragonling, putting Jedediah on its mother’s dinner menu. In order to protect his loved ones and the Golden Gate to magic’s source, Jedediah must stop the Namhaid, clear his name and avoid ending up a snack. When all seems lost, a seemingly desperate enemy offers Jedediah a key to unraveling all. Could it merely be the bait on the most sinister trap yet? Does he have a choice? What will it cost to stop the murders in his wood?" I really enjoyed reading this book. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30367737-murder-in-wizard-s-wood Full disclosure: I received this book for free; however I am under no obligation to write a positive or any review on my social media or blog.

Hijacked (Scion #2.5) by Michael J. Allen

I finished reading the third book in the Scion series by Michael J Allen. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's books. This is the continued adventures of Captain Alaric, and the problems and adventure just keep coming. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. Captain Alaric gets into so many situations, you just shake your head at. As with the first and second book, I would highly recommend reading this if you like Sci-Fi adventures. Here is what Good Reads says about the book, "Manc Shepherd’s alive and mad as hedrin. His plan to trap Alaric backfired, nearly costing his life. His backup ambush failed. The kid’s in the wind and Corollas want Manc for the death of Birak and Strepe—the Bishop’s enforcers. Everything he’s done to attain a position within the Corollas upper echelon has been blasted to ashes, but Manc’s not willing to give up his vendetta against the Bishop. Manc puts in motion a plan to capture Alaric and leverage the kid for a bloody meeting with the Bishop. Much as he did before with Cassii’s module, he hunts Alaric’s friends and loved ones starting with Tyne. The sultry piratess falls prey to Manc’s trap, but isn’t about to lay down and die. Tyne determines to undermine his efforts from within, sacrificing herself to protect Alaric. She isn’t alone. Corollas, Protectorate Intelligence and the mysterious Kingsman put themselves in Manc’s way. How far will Manc go for revenge? Will he successfully hijack Alaric’s friends while avoiding Corollas assassins? Will he survive to another showdown with Alaric, and if so, what will Alaric do to free his friends?" https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34791246-hijacked Full disclosure: I received this book for free; however I am under no obligation to write a positive or any review on my social media or blog.

Stolen Lives (Scion #2) By Michael J Allen

I finished reading the second book in the Scion series by Michael J Allen.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's books. This is the continued adventures of Captain Alaric, and the crew he has hired to help find Cassii, the ships AI. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down.

Captain Alaric gets into so many situations, you just shake your head at. The new AI that he has right now to take Cassii's place is so funny to me. He is so sarcastic, and obnoxious that it is entertaining. This AI does not want to be in this lowly ship.

As with the first book, I would highly recommend reading this if you like Sci-Fi adventures.

Here is what Good Reads says about the book, "Alaric’s made a new life in the Protectorate despite his missing memories. His ship’s AI, Cassii, and a successful trading venture help fill his accounts with enough credits to finish repairing his ship for a rescue mission to Earth. Or would have, had his heroics not smashed Cassiopeia once more. His interference with the Corollas crime syndicate fills his thruster wash with more than just an angry ex-mentor. Pirates thrive on the star lanes, preying on all those who stray within their sights. Cassii’s been stolen and with her Alaric’s hopes to rescue his friends. Pirates, bounty hunters, and disgruntled plants besiege him along all vectors, preventing his capture of the scum responsible. Alaric recruits a reluctant doctor, a pacifistic AI, and several escort pilots to help him chase down Cassii. Kindhearted decisions leave Alaric wallowing in misery. Deaths and desperation, financial losses and constant attack force him to make dark choices that threaten all. Alaric embraces the vast interstellar emptiness, struggling to harden himself enough to thwart the Protectorate’s criminal elite. Every sacrifice he makes to rescue Cassii seems to cost chunks of his soul. Will he free her before he loses himself or will she return to find her beloved captain a worse villain than her kidnapper?"

Resurrection America By Jeff Gunhus

I finished reading Resurrection America, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The author, Jeff Gunhus, did an excellent job of drawing you into the world of Resurrection.

I was drawn to all the characters, and whether I loved or hated them, I thought he did an excellent job of developing them.

You are brought into the world surrounding the mining town of Resurrection, and how they struggle to survive after the mine is shut down. You start the story with Sheriff Rick, looking into the last location his deputy had been, which was the old mine. Rick gets there and there is a huge fence surrounding the mine. I am sure Rick and the people didn't wake up that morning and realize their lives were about to change.

This is the exert from the website Goodreads, "When helicopters and armored vehicles filled with soldiers in hazmat suits quarantine the small mountain town of Resurrection, Colorado, Sheriff Rick Johnson feels like the Jihadi wars have followed him home. But while the town follows martial law out of fear of a virus released into the air, Rick isn't buying the official version of events. As he investigates, the cover story unravels and he discovers the military's presence and the salvation they offer isn't what it seems."

I would definitely recommend this book as it is a wonderful story to just loose yourself in.
