The Wizard's Bane

I finished reading the next book in the Bitergate series by Michael J Allen. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's books. This is another great story from Michael.

If you like Feys, wizards, and centaurs, then this book is for you. Here is what Good Reads says about the book, "Velith’Seravin and his Wizard’s Bane are on the warpath. Their ranks swell, drawing discontent recruits from many of the Fey communities. Quadruplet faun sorceresses embolden a daring raid, capturing the powerful necromancer Mauve. With arcane and shaman magic helping apprehend and execute wizards worldwide, Velith’Seravin courts full-scale Fey War by abducting dragonlings fostered by the wizards slain. Unbeknownst to him, his sorceresses owe the Namhaid wizard, Zero, for their enhanced powers. Jordan’s alone. Jedediah and Drake are nowhere to be found. The farmhouse is in ruins. Jedediah’s ex-girlfriend Billie Jo hounds her, trying to save Jordan from Jedediah’s satanic influence. She drags Jordan back to school. She drags Jordan back into the system she thought she’d escaped. Her new foster mother is a sociopath. She’s struggling to survive Wizard’s Bane assaults, bounty hunters and church ladies with armed with holy water, when she finds herself besieged by imperiled pre-teens pleading for her protection. Protecting one leads to the discovery of a secret Namhaid base built locally in Jedediah’s absence. Drake has exiled himself as punishment for letting Lanea’s attacker escape. He drags himself out of a drunken Cherry Coke oblivion when Mauve’s apprentice, Kane, arrives with dire news and vicious sorceresses on his tail. He abandons Kane and his troubles to Jordan, flying cross-country to beg Stormfall for help reaching a desperately needed but broken Jedediah. En route, he discovers centaurs are kidnapping dragonlings when he helps an injured Salyse. Burgeoning feelings war with guilt-riddled love. Pursued by dragon hunters Drake must choose: sacrifice avenging Lanea or rescue Salyse. Jordan and Drake must find the strength to survive in a dangerous adult world. They must face their demons while protecting those in desperate need of their help. Can they face off against Zero and Stormfall and Wizard’s Bane without letting anyone die?"

I really enjoyed reading this book.

Murder in Wizard's Wood (Bittergate #1)

I finished reading the first book in the Bitergate series by Michael J Allen. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's books. This is the story of Jedediah shine, who is a peanut farmer, who is protecting the wild Fey. If you like, Feys, wizards, and centaurs, then this book is for you. Here is what Good Reads says about the book, "For centuries, Southern peanut farmer Jedediah Shine has protected secret preserves of Wild Fey from humanity. He’s shielded modern humanity from bloodthirsty Fey. Unknown factions from both are dropping fresh corpses on his lawn, leaving Jedediah holding the body bags. A vengeful mercenary company resurrect an ancient blood feud. Forewarned against direct action, the Namhaid orchestrate a subtle plot pitting the wizard against law enforcement agencies. Rebellious young centaurs challenge borders guarded by the wizard to keep them hidden. They unleash a genocidal war on humanity and the Guardians keeping them caged. Unwitting pawns of a deeper menace, both serve a greater plot to rob Jedediah of magic’s deepest secret. Woods filled with murder victims vie for Jedediah’s attention against a jealous elven ex-lover and Jedediah’s new, seemingly reincarnated girlfriend. Two out-of-control teenage sorceresses and a Cherry Coke addicted dragonling further complicate Jedediah’s attempts to root out the mysterious murderers. A Federal manhunt leaves Jedediah’s charges unprotected. Centaurs attack his foster daughter. A rogue Namhaid agent takes the fight to Jedediah, intent to carve a reputation from the wizard’s corpse. His assault nearly kills the young dragonling, putting Jedediah on its mother’s dinner menu. In order to protect his loved ones and the Golden Gate to magic’s source, Jedediah must stop the Namhaid, clear his name and avoid ending up a snack. When all seems lost, a seemingly desperate enemy offers Jedediah a key to unraveling all. Could it merely be the bait on the most sinister trap yet? Does he have a choice? What will it cost to stop the murders in his wood?" I really enjoyed reading this book. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30367737-murder-in-wizard-s-wood Full disclosure: I received this book for free; however I am under no obligation to write a positive or any review on my social media or blog.

Hijacked (Scion #2.5) by Michael J. Allen

I finished reading the third book in the Scion series by Michael J Allen. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's books. This is the continued adventures of Captain Alaric, and the problems and adventure just keep coming. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. Captain Alaric gets into so many situations, you just shake your head at. As with the first and second book, I would highly recommend reading this if you like Sci-Fi adventures. Here is what Good Reads says about the book, "Manc Shepherd’s alive and mad as hedrin. His plan to trap Alaric backfired, nearly costing his life. His backup ambush failed. The kid’s in the wind and Corollas want Manc for the death of Birak and Strepe—the Bishop’s enforcers. Everything he’s done to attain a position within the Corollas upper echelon has been blasted to ashes, but Manc’s not willing to give up his vendetta against the Bishop. Manc puts in motion a plan to capture Alaric and leverage the kid for a bloody meeting with the Bishop. Much as he did before with Cassii’s module, he hunts Alaric’s friends and loved ones starting with Tyne. The sultry piratess falls prey to Manc’s trap, but isn’t about to lay down and die. Tyne determines to undermine his efforts from within, sacrificing herself to protect Alaric. She isn’t alone. Corollas, Protectorate Intelligence and the mysterious Kingsman put themselves in Manc’s way. How far will Manc go for revenge? Will he successfully hijack Alaric’s friends while avoiding Corollas assassins? Will he survive to another showdown with Alaric, and if so, what will Alaric do to free his friends?" https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34791246-hijacked Full disclosure: I received this book for free; however I am under no obligation to write a positive or any review on my social media or blog.

Stolen Lives (Scion #2) By Michael J Allen

I finished reading the second book in the Scion series by Michael J Allen.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's books. This is the continued adventures of Captain Alaric, and the crew he has hired to help find Cassii, the ships AI. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down.

Captain Alaric gets into so many situations, you just shake your head at. The new AI that he has right now to take Cassii's place is so funny to me. He is so sarcastic, and obnoxious that it is entertaining. This AI does not want to be in this lowly ship.

As with the first book, I would highly recommend reading this if you like Sci-Fi adventures.

Here is what Good Reads says about the book, "Alaric’s made a new life in the Protectorate despite his missing memories. His ship’s AI, Cassii, and a successful trading venture help fill his accounts with enough credits to finish repairing his ship for a rescue mission to Earth. Or would have, had his heroics not smashed Cassiopeia once more. His interference with the Corollas crime syndicate fills his thruster wash with more than just an angry ex-mentor. Pirates thrive on the star lanes, preying on all those who stray within their sights. Cassii’s been stolen and with her Alaric’s hopes to rescue his friends. Pirates, bounty hunters, and disgruntled plants besiege him along all vectors, preventing his capture of the scum responsible. Alaric recruits a reluctant doctor, a pacifistic AI, and several escort pilots to help him chase down Cassii. Kindhearted decisions leave Alaric wallowing in misery. Deaths and desperation, financial losses and constant attack force him to make dark choices that threaten all. Alaric embraces the vast interstellar emptiness, struggling to harden himself enough to thwart the Protectorate’s criminal elite. Every sacrifice he makes to rescue Cassii seems to cost chunks of his soul. Will he free her before he loses himself or will she return to find her beloved captain a worse villain than her kidnapper?"

Resurrection America By Jeff Gunhus

I finished reading Resurrection America, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The author, Jeff Gunhus, did an excellent job of drawing you into the world of Resurrection.

I was drawn to all the characters, and whether I loved or hated them, I thought he did an excellent job of developing them.

You are brought into the world surrounding the mining town of Resurrection, and how they struggle to survive after the mine is shut down. You start the story with Sheriff Rick, looking into the last location his deputy had been, which was the old mine. Rick gets there and there is a huge fence surrounding the mine. I am sure Rick and the people didn't wake up that morning and realize their lives were about to change.

This is the exert from the website Goodreads, "When helicopters and armored vehicles filled with soldiers in hazmat suits quarantine the small mountain town of Resurrection, Colorado, Sheriff Rick Johnson feels like the Jihadi wars have followed him home. But while the town follows martial law out of fear of a virus released into the air, Rick isn't buying the official version of events. As he investigates, the cover story unravels and he discovers the military's presence and the salvation they offer isn't what it seems."

I would definitely recommend this book as it is a wonderful story to just loose yourself in.

Scion of Conquered Earth (Scion #1) by Michael J. Allen

I have had the privileged to read the book, Scion of Conquered Earth by Michael J. Allen. It is a sci-fi adventure which I love reading. I was so impressed with how the author pulls you into the world of Alaric, and the rest of the crew.

Once I started reading this book, I didn't want to put it down. The writing is wonderful and fast paced. I enjoyed this book so much that I am almost done with the second book already. It is a really good book series.

Here is a little bit more about the book from Goodreads: An alien force has descended upon Earth. Fighters bombard the ruins. Monsters hunt the wastes – some humans serving the Welorin in order to indulge their petty cruelties. The last free survivors struggle against starvation and capture. It’s a world where friendship costs too dearly and heroics verge on suicide. One young man simply can’t resist either. Welorin torture machines ravage his world, filling it with literal nightmares. Cannibalistic aerobics instructors hunt him and snatcher teams dog his every step. Alaric attempts one rescue after another, hoping someone might possess keys to unlock memories stolen by the initial assault. An aborted rescue lands him in a three way fight between Welorin forces and interstellar raiders. He takes cover in the pirates’ ship, coercing its AI, Cassii, into helping him. Success comes with unexpected consequence as Cassii abandons her crew, his friends and Earth’s solar system. Cassii refuses to return to Earth, decrying her former captain’s despoiling of the ship’s weapons and armor. Alaric leverages goods stolen from Earth by Cassii’s former crew into a bid at privateering. Surrounded by tech he barely understands and exotic life forms, he’s easy prey for the Protectorate’s mercenary population. Escort Captain Manc Shepherd and the sultry pirate Tyne Ren – Manc’s onetime partner – manipulate, exploit and seduce him across the stars. Alaric’s perilous heroics complicate their tug-of-war, endangering both and Alaric’s ship – their intended prize. Alaric must decide who he is, what he holds dear and how far he’ll go to protect both. He must choose who to trust: his mentor, his temptress or his smitten ship’s AI. The right choice could save worlds. The wrong one could throw him into a desperate battle to save thousands from his betrayer at the cost of his truest friend.

Neodymium Magnets

I recently purchased the Neodymium Magnets. They were a lot bigger than I thought. There are 10 to a pack. I am going to use them to hang my scissors in my craft room. I am going to attach the magnets to a board and then place the blades of the scissors on there. In the photo below, you can see how it will look once I get them on a board. I am holding the magnet up against the wall and then the scissors are hanging off of it. I will update and let you know how well it worked once I get it made and hung.
Here is a little information about the magnets by the manufacturer: HEAVY DUTY MAGNETIZATION Made with a triple coating of nickel, copper and nickel, offer a nice shine to them that will always resist rust. From the Nile to the Jordan: Second Enlarged Edition - January 2017 by Ada Aharoni

I recently had the opportunity to finish reading From the Nile to Jordan. This is once again not my typical read but I did really enjoy the book. It was one of those you just felt like you didn't want to put it down once you started.

The author does a wonderful job at helping the reader to see the world through the characters eyes. I think it is a good historical book, and does a wonderful job at telling the story of the Second Exodus of the Jewish community from Egypt. There is war, conflict, tragedy and love through out the book.

I don't like to give away to much of the story; however, I will include an exert from Amazon. "An astonishing historical period relived through a dramatic love story From the Nile to the Jordan is a compelling and colorful historical novel that captures mid-twentieth century Egypt and Israel in marvelous detail. The novel tells the tragic events of the “Second Exodus” – the uprooting of the Jewish community from Egypt following the establishment of the Israeli state in 1948. By so doing, it brings an aspect of the Arab-Israeli Conflict that has not been touched upon: the forced emigration of Jews from Arab countries, aptly coined by Ada Aharoni – THE SECOND EXODUS. A story never told before Inbar is the beautiful daughter of a rich judge, member of Cairo’s Jewish community. When an historical storm threatens to destroy her future and that of her lover, a Holocaust survivor named Raoul, she sets out to Israel, in a passionate quest for love and fulfillment. Based on true historical facts Ada Aharoni weaves an astonishing and authentic historical period into a dramatic love story, written in powerful and moving prose. The result is an important and unique novel, based on historical facts, which creates an exciting, delightful and unforgettable feast for the readers, for history, and for world literature."

Multiple-Victims Murder: Criminology & Serial Killers by Arnon Edelstein

Another book that isn't my normal read but was quite interesting to read about Multiple Victim Murders which can happen at one time or one separate times but by the same killer. This book is written by a Professor or Criminology, and very well written. I believe the book was well written and explained everything very well.

Here is what Amazon had to say about this, "Mass murder and serial murder: An integrative look The term “Multiple-victims murder” refers to the murder of several people at the same time, or one after another, by the same killer, in a repetitive pattern. Usually these incidents count a high toll of victims and create significant anxiety increase in the public. Yet, the rate of finding murderers in these cases is relatively very low, especially in serial murders; that is if they are ever caught at all. A comprehensive and critical overview of contemporary research on Multiple-Victims Murder Multiple-Victims Murder examines the various categories of mass murder and serial murder and suggests a new category: “mass-serial murder”. It presents and criticizes the most up-to-date research and theoretical literature in this field, and suggests an integrative theoretical model. This groundbreaking volume is intended for criminologists, psychologists, sociologists, students and readers who are interested in truly understanding the complicated aspects of this fascinating field of investigation."

A Blue Eyed Asset by Dana Arama

I finished reading A Blue Eyed Asset by Dana Arama. I have to say I wasn't sure if I was going to like this style of book or not, but I really enjoyed reading it. This book is well written by the author. I have to say it was action packed, and full of suspense. The story was so high paced that I didn't want to put it down and go to bed. This story is a really good story about how much a woman loves her family that she is even willing to give her own life. If you like stories about strong women then this book I would highly recommend.

This is what Amazon says about it, "What if you had to choose between saving your son or protecting your daughter? Beguiling Iranian secret agent, Nahid, is forced to plant a bomb at Israel’s nuclear plant. Just before the point of no return, she then finds out that it will kill her son if it is goes off. But if she stops the detonation, her daughter will be tortured and executed in Iran. Left with no choice, she plans the attack using her ample sex appeal and intimate knowledge of explosives. Harrowing tension and a race against the clock in this chilling page-turner Will Nahid manage to overcome the demons from her past, or will she succumb to the agonizing forces that are pressuring her? Gypsy Prophecy: A Paranormal Romance Novel by Itay Itzhaky

I recently read and reviewed the eBook,Gypsy Prophecy: A Paranormal Romance Novel by Itay Itzhaky. This story had me hooked from the very beginning. We are introduced to Danielle, who knows she was adopted and is trying to find what is creating the void in her life. She meets a handsome man named Shay, and they immediately have a wonderful connection. It was a really well written book as the journey to answer all the questions she has is revealed. It is a delightful read and I can't read more by this author. This is not my typical setting of a book but it was very interesting, and I would definitely recommend it. Once the adventure began, it was really hard to put it down. It was a good read.

Here is what Amazon has to say about the book, "What would you do if your whole life was one big secret? Danielle will stop at nothing to discover the truth. Danielle, a young woman in her 20’s, was adopted as a baby by horticulturists and raised on a flower farm on a moshav in Israel. The terms of this adoption were that she must never seek out her birthplace or her biological parents. She couldn’t help the feeling that something was missing. Danielle had this unexplainable, haunting, recurring dream of falling into the abyss. Yearning for answers to questions like why she was abandoned by her birth parents at the orphanage in Jaffa so many years ago, she longed to discover the truth. With the support of her boyfriend, Shay, she began her journey, hoping to put her mind to rest. In their quest for the truth they come across unique and colorful characters. Nelly, a gypsy medium who Shay often consults, helps uncover Danielle’s roots, giving her the first glimpse of clarity. They follow the clues to Southern France, where a gypsy prophecy unfolds. Now it is up to Shay and Danielle to fulfill their destiny to restore the balance between good and evil amongst the gypsy community. Passion, romance and fast paced adventure make this book impossible to put down. An exceptional journey, filled with exciting suspense that will most definitely captivate you and leave you wanting more."

Take Me To The Start: Sophina's Diary by J.R. Kavit

When I first started reading this book, I didn't know what to expect. I was thinking another romance story, between two broken, and flawed people. The story right from the beginning had my attention and I just couldn't put it down. I finished the book in one evening.

The author for her first book was excellent in telling Sophia/Latina, and Benjamin's story. You could relate to the characters so easily, and you wanted to know what was going to happen to them next. She did a great job with the on the edge of the seat type of story telling. I know I can't wait to read the next in the series.

I don't like to go into too much detail and give away anything. I don't like "Spoilers", but I will include that they posted on Amazon. " If you could change one moment in your life what would it be? Based on Coldplay's epic song "The Scientist", 'Take me to the start' is a riveting novel that tells the story of Sophia and Benjamin. When Sophia loses her job on one of the worst days of her life, she meets Benjamin King, an enigmatic British Scientist that makes her wishes come true and then disappears. When a big secret comes to light, Sophia and Benjamin’s relationship takes a surprising turn. A mysterious, sexy and deeply moving novel about loss, pain and the courage to confront one’s past through love. Frustrated with the disappearance of the socially alienated thirty year old Scientist that changed her life, Sophia who defines herself as asexual and damaged, goes on a mission to find him and when she does, they discover that if they want to be a part of each other’s worlds, they’ll have to deal with their dark pasts. The past they worked so hard to hide. To make it work they will have to overcome their fears… or go back to the start. A fresh and engaging novel you will not be able to put down. Take Me To The Start is a romance novel about how the past echoes in the present. It's about our battle with the greatest question of all: what if we could go back and do it differently? It's a gripping and provoking read. Take Me To The Start is the first installment in the Take Me To The Start trilogy."

Medical Romance Set By Grace Devon

I recently finished reading the box set of Medical Romance by Grace Devon. These books are really good reads. It is a wonderful mixture of love and dealing with the everyday aspects of being in the medical field.

I love the story between Danielle and Jack. I also love the story between Danielle and her patient, Amanda. In the next story, the relationship and story line of Cassidy and her doctor is really enjoyable to read. In the third book, I was wondering if Lucy could help Knox and vice versa.

I really enjoyed how the author made you feel all the emotions with the characters.

Here is an exert from the website of the book:
Follow Danielle Spear as she starts out her neurosurgery residency program with a pounding heart. She’s realized that she has a massive crush on her chief resident! Not only is he her superior, but he is super sexy and she can not stop her imagination from going wild with the things she’d like to do to him… Doctor Jack Pace is a man who is used to achieving his goals. Falling for his beautiful intern is definitely not a part of his plan! But he can’t deny the way he feels for her...and so he suggests that they try a simulation date-- just to see what it would be like. Will these two be able to untangle their hearts, once certain lines have been crossed? He saw her approaching and opened the door wider. He had tucked a thick navy terrycloth towel around his waist, and it sat low on his hips, exposing the muscular angles of his abdomen as it descended behind the towel. “Can you hand me my….” His words faded as she walked towards him, not stopping where he’d expected her to. He froze, as though he suddenly realized that he stood in front of her in only a towel. There was very little between them. It felt good to be holding the cards. She stepped towards him, and ran her finger along his bare chest. He sighed, with pleasure or frustration, she wasn’t sure. She drew a circle with her fingertip along his nipple, and then traced a line down over his stomach... She was looking at him, watching emotions cross his face as he struggled to remain composed. “Don’t” he said, as she teased her finger over his abdomen just above the towel. “I won’t,” she said. “I know there are some rules to this game.” He looked as though he was about to forget about rules entirely, but they both knew that would not do. “I just think that there’s one more thing I want to know,” she let her fingers glide up his torso again, slowly, her fingernail barely grazing his chest, “before I decide about our date.” “What do you want to know?” he asked, his husky voice met her ears in a whisper. Book 2: Her Hot Doctor When Cassidy Novotny is rudely diagnosed by the rebellious Doctor Zeb Morgan while at her friend's bachelorette party, Cassidy's life is turned abruptly upside down. Cassidy finds herself in the care of this smokin' hot doctor, and that's quite all right with her! His touches are a wonderful distraction from the diagnosis that she faces. Doctor Morgan is know-it-all neurosurgeon with a few skeletons in his closet. Even though Cassidy is his patient, he can't help but notice how kissable her lips are! He is unable to control his body's visceral reaction to her mere presence in a room. How is he supposed to operate on her? He might not have to, because the night before her surgery, Cassidy goes missing.... Will he be able to give her another chance at life? Book 3: Her Trauma Doctor It seems that nothing in RN Lucy Lavigne's life is going as planned. Her live-in boyfriend of four years has left her with a house under renovations, and she feels lost and abandoned. When a research study puts her in close contact with the intimidating trauma surgeon Knox Payten (known to the nursing staff as 'The Beast') she finds that maybe things are better than she thought. Knox Payten has experienced more than his fair share of trauma and loss. He longs for freedom from the memories that haunt him. Can Lucy help Knox heal from his traumas, and find the freedom that he desires? Can Knox give Lucy the love and safety that she deserves?
