Scion of Conquered Earth (Scion #1) by Michael J. Allen

I have had the privileged to read the book, Scion of Conquered Earth by Michael J. Allen. It is a sci-fi adventure which I love reading. I was so impressed with how the author pulls you into the world of Alaric, and the rest of the crew.

Once I started reading this book, I didn't want to put it down. The writing is wonderful and fast paced. I enjoyed this book so much that I am almost done with the second book already. It is a really good book series.

Here is a little bit more about the book from Goodreads: An alien force has descended upon Earth. Fighters bombard the ruins. Monsters hunt the wastes – some humans serving the Welorin in order to indulge their petty cruelties. The last free survivors struggle against starvation and capture. It’s a world where friendship costs too dearly and heroics verge on suicide. One young man simply can’t resist either. Welorin torture machines ravage his world, filling it with literal nightmares. Cannibalistic aerobics instructors hunt him and snatcher teams dog his every step. Alaric attempts one rescue after another, hoping someone might possess keys to unlock memories stolen by the initial assault. An aborted rescue lands him in a three way fight between Welorin forces and interstellar raiders. He takes cover in the pirates’ ship, coercing its AI, Cassii, into helping him. Success comes with unexpected consequence as Cassii abandons her crew, his friends and Earth’s solar system. Cassii refuses to return to Earth, decrying her former captain’s despoiling of the ship’s weapons and armor. Alaric leverages goods stolen from Earth by Cassii’s former crew into a bid at privateering. Surrounded by tech he barely understands and exotic life forms, he’s easy prey for the Protectorate’s mercenary population. Escort Captain Manc Shepherd and the sultry pirate Tyne Ren – Manc’s onetime partner – manipulate, exploit and seduce him across the stars. Alaric’s perilous heroics complicate their tug-of-war, endangering both and Alaric’s ship – their intended prize. Alaric must decide who he is, what he holds dear and how far he’ll go to protect both. He must choose who to trust: his mentor, his temptress or his smitten ship’s AI. The right choice could save worlds. The wrong one could throw him into a desperate battle to save thousands from his betrayer at the cost of his truest friend.

Neodymium Magnets

I recently purchased the Neodymium Magnets. They were a lot bigger than I thought. There are 10 to a pack. I am going to use them to hang my scissors in my craft room. I am going to attach the magnets to a board and then place the blades of the scissors on there. In the photo below, you can see how it will look once I get them on a board. I am holding the magnet up against the wall and then the scissors are hanging off of it. I will update and let you know how well it worked once I get it made and hung.
Here is a little information about the magnets by the manufacturer: HEAVY DUTY MAGNETIZATION Made with a triple coating of nickel, copper and nickel, offer a nice shine to them that will always resist rust. Each of the round neodymium magnets hase an internal gauss rating of 13,500 gauss and an 8.3 pound holding power that features both direct touch and direct pull abilities. RETAINS HOLDING POWER EXCELLENTLY These neodymium super magnets will not lose their hold unless heated up to 176 degrees Fahrenheit.

From the Nile to the Jordan: Second Enlarged Edition - January 2017 by Ada Aharoni

I recently had the opportunity to finish reading From the Nile to Jordan. This is once again not my typical read but I did really enjoy the book. It was one of those you just felt like you didn't want to put it down once you started.

The author does a wonderful job at helping the reader to see the world through the characters eyes. I think it is a good historical book, and does a wonderful job at telling the story of the Second Exodus of the Jewish community from Egypt. There is war, conflict, tragedy and love through out the book.

I don't like to give away to much of the story; however, I will include an exert from Amazon. "An astonishing historical period relived through a dramatic love story From the Nile to the Jordan is a compelling and colorful historical novel that captures mid-twentieth century Egypt and Israel in marvelous detail. The novel tells the tragic events of the “Second Exodus” – the uprooting of the Jewish community from Egypt following the establishment of the Israeli state in 1948. By so doing, it brings an aspect of the Arab-Israeli Conflict that has not been touched upon: the forced emigration of Jews from Arab countries, aptly coined by Ada Aharoni – THE SECOND EXODUS. A story never told before Inbar is the beautiful daughter of a rich judge, member of Cairo’s Jewish community. When an historical storm threatens to destroy her future and that of her lover, a Holocaust survivor named Raoul, she sets out to Israel, in a passionate quest for love and fulfillment. Based on true historical facts Ada Aharoni weaves an astonishing and authentic historical period into a dramatic love story, written in powerful and moving prose. The result is an important and unique novel, based on historical facts, which creates an exciting, delightful and unforgettable feast for the readers, for history, and for world literature."

Multiple-Victims Murder: Criminology & Serial Killers by Arnon Edelstein

Another book that isn't my normal read but was quite interesting to read about Multiple Victim Murders which can happen at one time or one separate times but by the same killer. This book is written by a Professor or Criminology, and very well written. I believe the book was well written and explained everything very well.

Here is what Amazon had to say about this, "Mass murder and serial murder: An integrative look The term “Multiple-victims murder” refers to the murder of several people at the same time, or one after another, by the same killer, in a repetitive pattern. Usually these incidents count a high toll of victims and create significant anxiety increase in the public. Yet, the rate of finding murderers in these cases is relatively very low, especially in serial murders; that is if they are ever caught at all. A comprehensive and critical overview of contemporary research on Multiple-Victims Murder Multiple-Victims Murder examines the various categories of mass murder and serial murder and suggests a new category: “mass-serial murder”. It presents and criticizes the most up-to-date research and theoretical literature in this field, and suggests an integrative theoretical model. This groundbreaking volume is intended for criminologists, psychologists, sociologists, students and readers who are interested in truly understanding the complicated aspects of this fascinating field of investigation."

A Blue Eyed Asset by Dana Arama

I finished reading A Blue Eyed Asset by Dana Arama. I have to say I wasn't sure if I was going to like this style of book or not, but I really enjoyed reading it. This book is well written by the author. I have to say it was action packed, and full of suspense. The story was so high paced that I didn't want to put it down and go to bed. This story is a really good story about how much a woman loves her family that she is even willing to give her own life. If you like stories about strong women then this book I would highly recommend.

This is what Amazon says about it, "What if you had to choose between saving your son or protecting your daughter? Beguiling Iranian secret agent, Nahid, is forced to plant a bomb at Israel’s nuclear plant. Just before the point of no return, she then finds out that it will kill her son if it is goes off. Harrowing tension and a race against the clock in this chilling page-turner Will Nahid manage to overcome the demons from her past, or will she succumb to the agonizing forces that are pressuring her? Guy Niava is the dashing Israeli Mossad agent who has been tasked with blocking the security breach at the Israeli nuclear plant and terminate its source.
