Killer by Olivia Howe

I finished reading the novella, Killer, by Olivia Howe. This book is not what I had expected. The opening words set the scene for the book. We open with the serial killer, Doctor, killing one of his latest victim. Then we are introduced to the female decective, Gwen.

I don't want to give away too much but this book was really good, and kept me on the edge of my seat. Once I started, I didn't put it down until I was finished.

Battlefield Earth by L.Ron Hubbard

I recently finished listening to the well known book, Battlefield Earth, by L.Ron Hubbard. I received the paperback book, and the audio version of the book. I listened to the audio book, and it was amazing. There are over 65 actors that are accompanied by a full cinematic soundtrack. The paperback has expanded content, author's notes, author interview, and lyrics.

The audio book just draws you into the story with all the sound affects and different actors doing all the different voices of the characters. I am sure if I was just reading the book, I would have enjoyed it but the audio takes it to a whole different level of enjoyment.

Dragon's Guide to Slaying Virgins by Isabella Saint-Michael

This is my third book to read by Isabella and I am falling more and more in love with her writing.

This is a really good fantasy romance that isn't like your typical romance novels. This book is full of action and adventure, with great fighting scenes, romance, and some hot and steamy scenes. I love that Isabella gradually introduces us to the characters.

I don't want to spoil anything by giving detailed review of the story but will post the synopsis of the book from Amazon here: "Morgan had resigned herself to death. Holiday Spirit for Hire by Isabella Saint-Michael

Holiday Spirit for Hire is a wonderful short tale written by Isabella Saint-Michael. It is a quick and light read full of fun, holiday spirit, great characters, fantasy, romance, and sex.

I found myself finishing it in one sitting. The author did a wonderful job portraying the characters, and the writing was really good.

I don't want to spoil anything so here is a synopsis of the book from Amazon. I read the eBook, Practical Uses for Princes with Pointed Ears by Isabella Saint-Michael. This is a YA genre book, but is a good read.

The story started out slow for me but understood why the author did it, which was to give you the backstory. There is a strong female character which I liked. There were some hot romantic moments for those who like the romantic genre in books.

I was swept up in the story and really didn't want it to end. This is the first in the series and can't wait for more to read. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it if you like the fantasy world.

The Wrong Fairytale by Tamar Hela

I read the eBook, The Wrong Fairytale by Tamar Hela, and even though I haven't read the first one in the series, I was surprised how easy it was to understand and follow the story. The author did a great job at this in my opinion.

This is a YA book, and does have some strong language that is more suitable for older children. The author does a wonderful job with the point of views as they switch back and forth between the characters. This is very well done and I didn't find it confusing like in some books.

This book has a great story line, and is very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend if you are into mythical and magical characters.

Affliction by Marilee Brothers

I finished reading the eBook, Affliction by Marilee Brothers. The book kept me intrigued from the beginning to the end. The author did a wonderful job at creating and building the characters.

I don't want to give away too much because I hate when people give away spoilers, so I will just give the synopsis that Amazon gives:
Twenty-two year old Honor Melanie (Mel) Sullivan has an affliction. Due to childhood trauma and inappropriate social behavior, she is diagnosed with Asperger's, a form of autism. But, Mel knows Asperger's is not her true affliction. She prefers not to gaze into a person’s eyes because she is a soul reader, and what she sees can be frightening. It can also get Mel into trouble. After a brush with the law, Mel leaves her family home in Southern California and travels to Oregon where she meets Harley-Davidson riding William McCarty (Billy the Kid) and stumbles upon a human trafficking/baby-selling scheme involving a foreign girl from Kazakhstan, and others. Even though Mel's life is in danger, she won't stop until she finds the answers that will help those unable to help themselves.

I really enjoyed all the mystery and plot twist in this book. I would recommend this as a good read.

I purchased this sewing kit because I thought it would be great for traveling. I am going to place it in my backpack for when I go to visit family.

The kit includes: several colors of thread, a couple of buttons, safety pins, straight pins, 2 needle threaders, several different needles, small scissors, seam ripper, measuring tape, and a thimble. The kit is in a nice canvas pouch, and it has elastic bands to hold each item in place. The zipper seems to be well made. There is nice graphics on the front of the kit.

It's About Time By Lyle Howard

This is the first book that Lyle Howard has written that I have read, and I have to say that it captured my attention from the beginning to the end. This thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat many times through the book.

The author's writing style is pretty simple which I think makes this book one that everyone could enjoy. I do think that the redundancy of the opening segment with the ships was not necessary, but you can always just skip over the second time if you don't want to repeat it. I don't want to be a spoiler so I won't mention the ending, but I will tell you I wasn't expecting it.

Stealing Love: A Humorous Romantic Novel By H. Schreter

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is a different genre than I usually read but it kept me interested from page one until the very end.

The author did a great job with creating the characters, and every character is memorable. There is humor, wisdom, and lots of adventures through out this entire story. I am sure the main character never dreamed when he accepted the position in Romania that his vehicle would be a casket bearer for a funeral. This is just one of the many things that he encounters through out this journey.

This was a well written adventure that I would highly recommend to anyone.

I tried to read the book, Futuring the Future, by Michael F. Kaufmann, for several weeks now. I got to chapter 2, and read the same page over and over. So I sat this book aside and completely finished another book, and came back to it. Again, the same thing happened, so I put this book aside, and didn't try to finish it. I couldn't get into the story at all and found it completely confusing. The story is written in simple terms, but to me it was very confusing. I couldn't figure out who was speaking. To me it reminded me of when I did a play in high school.

Ghost Sitter By Shelly Brown

I recently finished reading the eBook, Ghostsitter, by Shelly Brown. I started this book in the morning and finished by the end of the night.


   I loved how the author wrote each character. The main characters Tiffany and Justin have so much adventure and they grow to understand and realize who their real friends are.   By the end of the first chapter, I was in love with the story and the characters, especially how Tiffany realizes how much pain Justin is going through, and how they help each other out in the end.

  This of the Middle grade mystery genre, but was still a really good read.

Lancet for Diabetes testing

    I purchased these because I have been testing my blood sugar since both my parents found out they are both diabetics. I also had grandparents on my dad's side that were diabetics.

The lancets that I was using would make my fingers hurt for a couple of days after use. These are surprisingly a lot easier to use and they really do not hurt as bad.

The rubberized lid is suppose to be compatible with most 12 oz aluminum cans and beer bottles. However the one can that my husband tried to use in it wouldn't fit.

Aslan Organic Cotton Bed Sheet Set - 100% Cotton 4pc Sheet Set

I got the Aslan Organic Cotton Bed Sheet Set because we have downsized to a queen bed and didn't have many sheets for it.  I was so excited to get these and the color is good color for our bedroom.

The manufacturer says that they were organically dyed.  Straight out of the package they felt wonderful.  The manufacturer does recommend cold wash and gentle cycle.  I have washed and dried them and they look just as good as they did when I took it out of the package.  They fit really well and after sleeping on them for a couple of weeks, there is no show of any wear.

They do seem to stay in place pretty good, and I am a moving sleeper.  I toss and turn all night and they seem to withstand that.

They are very comfortable to sleep on and they feel wonderful against the skin.

This digital alarm clock can be set for Monday to Friday, Monday to Saturday or Monday to Sunday, which keeps you from having to turn on and off the alarm every day.

Simple settings that let you just slide and press to set time,date(yy/mm/dd), and dual alarms easily.
Just turn on the senor light and the clock will automatically glow a soft light in dark. If you're sensitive to the light, you may also turn off the sensor, the screen is lights only when you press "KING DO WAY" button on the top of the alarm.

There is also a temperature display that displays both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

This does take 3 AAA batteries which were not included but that is what makes it so great for traveling. No cords to deal with.
